DHR/AR Rheometer: Setting Up an Event Test

In this topic

Overview

Events are used to activate external devices during a rheological measurement. The external devices can either interact with the sample and change the rheological properties of the material, or can measure other material properties with an be an external sensor. A typical example of the first case is the UV curing. The UV light source is activated during the test and the changes of the rheological properties are recorded by the rheometer. An example of the second case is a simultaneous mechanical/optical measurement. The external sensor measure the changes of the optical properties while the rheometer records the stress and imposes the flow on the sample.

Test Setup

To select an Event, select Other > Event from the Procedure tab option. See Using Experimental Procedures for detailed instructions.

Events are passive conditioning steps and allow the enable/disable an external device to be activated or deactivated during a procedure:

  1. Use the Enable event check box to enable the event.
  2. Select the desired event by choosing the radio button of either Event 1 or Event 2. Two distinct events can be set up and used to send a trigger signal to one or more external devices.
  3. Select the Event timer start. Two choices are possible:
